WHAT IS CULTURE?

“To Each their Need, From Each their Ability.” - Karl Marx

The most minority group is the individual. Does the system which causes an individual to function, the same or comparable as the system which makes a group * to function? 

*  (community, collective, nation, gang, tribe, species)

An analysis of ‘How does an individual function’ reveals; 

1 the field of Psychology developed to explore this

2 the field of psychology has various Maps of this

3 the most integrated and useful of those maps is Karl Jung’s adaptation of Sigmund Freuds

Therefore we will be using Jung’s Map of Self for this Transactional Analysis. 

The rigidity of ‘Ego’ does the attachments. That is where attachment disorders. The super-ego the extension of the ego into the subconscious, the attachments projected as Id into self belief for who we are; this thing of the past and that thing of the future connect, through the go to make me who I think I am.

This is a block to free-flow of Being in real-time.

A deity is when we. Associate the super-ego with the id, independent of out own ego, we ‘give it away’, but we invest in in belief until it becomes autonomous. The Japanese burning of the dolls ceremony. There is a deity of a burning doll. A ceremony of release of who we were, our past attachments, it is about liberation. A process of dissolving away the unnecessary parts of self. Symbolised by a child relinquishing its childhood toy into the fire that the energy is free, free of the past, free of attachment. No longer and anchor, we are free to become who we now are. It is a necessary stage of development, of self discovery, of personal journeying. 

Applying it to cultural self identity.

Who are we? 

What are these museum things we hold within us which show us how we got here? (super-ego - Past)

What are these fresh new springtime sapling things involving change, of our way of seeing, thinking, being, culturally? (id - Future)

We Make Maps For Orientation (where are we) Navigation (how do we get there) Critical 

-Psychology (ego super-ego id) 

-Sociology (communism socialism anarchy democracy capitalism feudalism) 

Ego is about integration and discernment. It holds the world in form. The world ** is always changing. 

** ‘World’ in this sense is the holistic, metaphysical. Unfortunately the word is used interchangeably with substantiated physical substance. 

The Ego makes the Maps 

The Ego sits between Id (future, want) and Super-Ego (past, conditioning).

The Ego sits on top of Emotion, Intuition & Impulse.

The Ego sits beneath Reason. 

The external world is fed into the Ego through the physical & spiritual senses (sight, sound, scent, touch, taste, etc). We can perceive these (physical & spiritual senses) as in front of and behind the Ego. 

The Ego arranges all of these inputs into a structure for it to orientate and navigate. 

Very, very often so much it is standard and normal, to be expected, we mistake the arrangement created by the Ego for The Self. The structure can change and over time it has to change, to adapt to survive. The Self is mutable, because the Self is an observer which is aware it can observe, and that its observation is affected by all these other inputs. It uses Reason which grows from the Ego to measure qualitative differences between stimuli. 

In Modernity ‘Reason’ means two things. It means ‘to use critical analysis’ it also means ‘to justify why it is this way not that way’. These are not the same entity. The first, calculus. The second, individuation mutated from compromise somewhere within the system. The psychological analyst determines whee that mutation has created variation and where required, suggest how to put it back on track. 

Where does Imagination fit into this? There are three schools. 

One, Imagination is something we observe from the higher frequency sensory input (spiritual). 

Two, Imagination is the aberration deviated from the rigid faculty of calculus (rational). 

Three, perhaps it is both and that both are necessary, in the same way two eyes are necessary to measure optical distance by seeing simultaneously to the left and to the right of the object in focus.   

A fundamental importance of Critical Analysis as opposed to Intuition & Impulse.

What is Impulse (hunger, sex, anger, sorrow, a combination of emotional and physical drives)

What is Intuition (connection with holistic divinity - according ) 

The Divine has a Map we cannot see the whole of it, only our part of it

Life works like and Ecology; everything enhancing the whole by having its right place in it 

Darma (everything in its right place) - earth - world/body - staffs/wands - the stable world

Karma (everything journeying toward its right place) - water - emotions - cups 

Drama (chaos creating change) - fire - actions - coins - the shifting world 

Reason (faculty of calculus) - air - mind - swords - Thoth

Natural World (world of emotion, world of intuition & impulse)

Supernatural World (world of mythology, mystery)

Human World (world of critical thinking, reason)

I suggest the place in the centre where all three overlap is the DreamTime. 

Although I impulsively want to assign Physical and Non-Physical form to the three worlds, I reason that where they overlap makes experience where physicality and non-physicality is an incorrect analysis, because all of it is vibrational spectrums at different frequencies of sustainability experienced relatively as physical or non-physical. It has more to do with speed and rhythm than with solid or unsubstantiated.
