Of the needing 

To attend to 

Damaged feelings

I reach my hand

Symbol for the Heart

Always yours

Which needed nurturing

From wounds we shared

Unintentionally

And perhaps intentionally

We were in too much pain

Amplifying

Between us

After all this time

Their voices fade away

Envy, hatred, control, abuse

The reptile assumption

To tell us what to think

How to feel, Who we are, 

Who we should be with 

These were never people we should listen to

They have not our best interests at heart

They fear the loss of our magic

Which they feed on

They fear we would outgrow them

See through them

After all this time

I am wiser to them 

Their power over me has waned

I had to sacrifice you to do that

As you sacrificed me to appease them

After all this time

I am checking in

Because I care

Because I love you

Hoping you are doing alright

Although we slammed the door between us

From the pressures of conformity

That door, our hearts sharing

Was toxic from their potions

So I blame others for the harm

Upon our marriage

Not because I have no accountability

Of course I do and I have paid my toll

But because I am passing judgement accurately 

Where the ones who assume to reign 

Passing judgement based on lies 

Have not met my benchmark 

After all this time

Perhaps you will have learned 

Marriage is the world between two people

To the exclusion of all others

It is not the world between you and 

All the other people 

Who want to own you

To the detriment of your betrothed  

The people who you needed 

To fuck off, was not me

It was all the people twisting our love

Who you set me aside to please

You perhaps do not see it this way 

But your heart does

I know this being true to my own heart

That door between our hearts

As it is my turn in our story

A blank future faces us

To miserable solace of their demonic community

Feeding on friends and families born of blood

Never the power to escape a hell created

By compromised choices 

Drinking potions of unfounded criticism 

After all this time

I thank you for setting me free 

It was the gift of love

I can see that now

I had thought I could rescue you

Instead you rescued me 

By letting me go

I have had to do the same

The element of tragedy 

Is blameless

It was what it had to be
