To tell that protagonist story, we have to hold it into form. That individual has their own sense of order, and will confront in many ways, physically emotionally mentally spiritually, what happens when that sense of order is challenged, irrelevant, dissolves and changes, how that person behaves in each of those situations is the story.
we will use the frame of as above so below.
The character and our knowledge of the character in the world is progressive and accumulative. We build a value system based on empirically what we know, as we go along. It does change along the way. so we go from unknown towards known. The character, our window into the world, is something we know or come to know. It is the world beyond the character which is the unknown. Realism includes involves that when we think we know a thing it changes, therefore we are always dealing with the unknown when we are dealing with the world. There are two senses of order. The one the individual imposes onto the world which others might reinforce, or the sense of order others impose onto us. There are two parts to ‘the others’. There is society which like us is versus against nature Then, there is society as nature versus the individual. In that case, the individual is isolated and alone against everything because society represents the chaos, the individual is not harmony with society. The individual may represent the wild of nature versus Society. The individual is an individual versus nature.
As the character progresses, they gain more confidence in their ability to impose their own sense of order onto the external world. Whether this is reflected through turning the jungle into a garden or their ideas stabilise society around them who then elevate the person within that society, if that is the nature of that society.
It could be a tragic story about somebody who starts off strong and is gradually weakened by external horses into the people, and ends up. People generally do not like those stories as the main protagonist although we do like that to happen to the enemy.
So there is a place for that story art in the story.
As above so below in the context outlined here means that as the character gains strength to impose their sense of order on the external world, so the chaos outside of them, adapt to them and becomes at the end less of a chaos. The lost character ends up in harmony with the world which reflects the character back to themselves, the character of a normalised version of stability. No matter how quirky it might appear to us, we have to remember it is cultural because our lifestyles are quirky compared to, the Romans, the pics, the Neander tools, the spiritual American Indians, the bloodthirsty barbarians, and so forth.
We can reflect upon what is humanitarianism is the ideals and the needs identifiable throughout all of those different cultures, unifying us.
It extends beyond humans, my dog needs to eat, sleep, and shit. he gets scared, he bravely warns off intruders, he kills the bad rats. He is a good dog. He is not so different from myself therefore, humans and dogs cohabit nicely. On the other hand, although I can understand wasps, their lives cycles and needs, I do not want to live in a wasps nest and neither do I want a wasps nest to live in my home. They are too alien.I have to reconcile. I am probably more alien to the wasps than they are to me.
They might think of it differently. I have no way to tell because they are that alien.
